An Example of COPE Dollars At Work

Care for KidsThis fall, SEIU Healthcare's member outreach and COPE dollars during the Massachusetts 5th Congressional District special general election were critical in sending the Democratic candidate, Niki Tsongas, to Congress. SEIU spent over $200,000 on television advertising, sent nearly 8,000 pieces of member mail, made more than 4,000 member calls, and mobilized nearly 100 member volunteers who contributed hundreds of hours to voter outreach.  SEIU Local 1199 sent out 2 additional mailings to its 200 members paid for through COPE contributions made by members.

Niki Tsongas was elected on October 16. The next day, October 17, she cast her first vote-to fully fund SCHIP for uninsured children.
